A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME AND WHAT I DO

tt2.jpg

who am I….?

My name is Margareta Rinastiti. I am a wife and mother of wonderfull 12 years old boy, lecturer at Department of Conservative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I  am a highly motivated and dynamic person, like a challange, love travelling also reading and believe that I start and end with family.

I got my bachelor degree from Faculty of Dentistry in 1997 and became a dentist in 1999. In 2001, I got the opportunity to take master degree in Graduate School, Gadjah Mada University. Biomaterial Science was my major study and I was graduated at 2003.  In 2006, I started my PhD study in Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands and at 28th June 2010 i defended my thesis entitled The effect of aging on composite to composite repair.

 what do I do…..?

The work of an academic is broadly divided into three parts, namely teaching, research and administration/service. I teach  from second year  to clinical levels,  in both lectures and laboratories. Instead of teaching undergraduate student, I also supervise postgraduate student.  My research is carried out in conservative dentistry and biomedical engineering field .

how do I find my career pasion…?

People of all ages often asking this question and one many of us struggle with. After a long journey in academic atmosphere, i found that teaching and research are my passion. Teaching is the greatest act of optimism (Colleen Wilcox), while research is one of the most exciting and rewarding of occupations (Frederick Sanger).  I am happy to share my knowledge and experience with others and I love research, because it is both an art and science.  It has its rewards and its costs. To be a good researcher one must love what one wants to do, enjoy the pleasure and bear the disappointments that come with it.

what am I looking for in my life…?

Whatever we are waiting for — peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance — it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart.
